The word count on which our proofreading and editing fee is based is that
reported by the Word Count function of Microsoft Word. Multiply the
number of words by $0.02 or $0.03 to calculate the fee. The minimum fee is $20.00. This is equivalent to 667 words.
PROOFREADING OR COPYEDITING?
Proofreading consists of checking for errors in punctuation, spelling, grammar, verb tenses, etc., in work that is relatively error-free. Before paying online for proofreading, please e-mail your written material to us for our examination. We will be happy to proofread your work if we agree that it does not require editing.
Copyediting (or editing) involves more substantial changes to the composition in order to make the writing understandable easily and quickly. Copyediting is more akin to rewriting. In addition to checking for errors in punctuation, spelling, grammar, verb tenses, etc., we will break up run-on sentences, change passive verb forms to active verb forms, and even suggest words that may be more suitable than those that you have used.
If English is not your first language, it is almost certain that you will require the copyediting service.
Also, if your occupation does not involve extensive writing, you will probably require the copyediting service.

SENDING YOUR WRITING
The servers on which the Writing English website is hosted use an aggressive anti-spam filtering system. Consequently, when you send your writing for editing to , please also send a copy to . This second e-mail address is the location of the actual computer on which your work will be edited. Its internet service provider uses different servers than those used to host the Writing English website.
Consequently, sending a copy of your work to will help to ensure that we receive your work, despite the spam filtering systems used on our behalf. This is particularly important if you reside in Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, or another Asian location.
DELIVERY
- For submissions of 1,500 words or less, we will return your corrected writing by e-mail within one business day (24 hours).
- For submissions of greater length, we can normally return your corrected writing by e-mail within two business days (48 hours) of receiving your material and payment.
